Ama Dablam Expedition

Ama Dablam has established itself for being one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing peaks in the humbug region of Nepal. It’s meaning in the Sherpa language means Mother Necklace and this name has been given to it for the bulge of snow and glacier as well as the sheer face with pearl like protrusions it showcases. The majestic beauty of this beautiful peak has made it a location waiting to be explored.  It is a part of the Mahalangu Himal section as well as the Barun Himal subsection. This beautiful peak has managed to attract the attention of thousands of thrill seekers around the world.

Three camps are set all along the away before finally launching to the Ama Dablam Peak. The presence of soaring edges, hanging glaciers, blizzards as well as steep faces makes it one of the most challenging peaks in the Everest Region. The expedition to the top of this peak is recommended to thrill seekers of all kinds around the world.

Day 01:

Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

We arrive from our respective locations to the capital of the beautiful country of Nepal. Kathmandu is home to several religious as well as other locations and this day can be spent by relishing the unique cuisine of Nepal.

Day 02:

Sightseeing in Kathmandu

This day is dedicated towards visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Sites situated around Kathmandu. It consists of Bhaktapur Durbar Square , Boudhanath Stupa as well as the Swayambunath Stupa. We also use this day to shop adequately for the upcoming expedition and buy the necessary materials for the trek.

Day 03:

Kathmandu- Lukla- Phakding (1300m- 2610m)

Today we embark on one of the best flights there exists from Kathmandu. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is one of the most scenic flights across Nepal and it takes about 40 minutes. The view of breath taking greenery and pristine white peaks culminates in landing to the hillside of the Tenzing- Hillary Airport. After some packing and preparation, we embark on a trek from Lukla to Phakding. This short hike will take us through beautiful scenery and additional activities can be undertaken if deemed necessary.

Day 04:

Phakding- Namche Bazaar (2652- 3440m)

We pass through beautiful pine forests situated along the side of the Dudh koshi River to reach the central region of the Everest Region, Namche Bazaar. The path offers the glistening views of the Mt. Kusumkang and Mt. Thamserku as well as the serenity of juniper and pine forests along the way. On a clear day, we might also get the chance to view the Mt. Everest in all its grandeur.  The gateway to Everest Region, Namche Bazaar is adorned with several cafes with internet services. We reach the Namche Bazaar by passing through five suspension bridges and end our day there.

Day 05:

Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

This day is set aside from acclimatization in Namche Bazaar. This is extremely necessary to ensure no Altitude Mountain Sickness. Instead of being idle, it is recommended that trekkers move around actively during the day. We can stroll around the quaint villages of Namche Bazaar. We can look around and live in with the rich Sherpa populations living in the region.  Another endeavor that can be adapted is to visit the Everest View Hotel from where we can enjoy the up-close views of Everest. We can also look forward on visiting the local museum or spend the day observing the flora and fauna present in Namche Bazaar. Another idea is to hike to the Khumjung village to mix up with the local inhabitants there. Trekking preparation is also absolutely necessary to be undertaken.

Day 06:

Namche Bazaar- Tengboche/ Debuche

Today, we pass along the Everest route through the beautiful villages along the Dudh Koshi River. We ascend up to the steep trail and pass through the Tengboche Monastery. We will be rewarded with the magnificent views of the pristine mountain peaks like the Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam as well as the Everest. We reach the Tengboche Monastery and we later descend to Debuche and spend the night there. 

Day 07:

Debuche- Pangboche (3980m)

This day will start with the passage through village Debuche. The scenic village is surrounded by Everest to its north and with mountains like Ama Dablam, Kangtiaga, Kongde range as well as the Thamserku which are all visible from this region. After observing the exquisite views of the mountain peaks in this region, we move further upwards to reach another pristine village Pangboche.

Day 08:

Acclimatization on Pangboche

This day will be targeted towards acclimatization in Pangboche. This will reduce the chances of suffering from AMS. We climb a bit above the Periche Village for hiking and acclimatizing with the altitude. We walk up a slope which overlooks the Himalayan Valleys and gives us a feeling of serenity.

Day 09:

Pangboche- Ama Dablam Base Camp (3980m- 4600m)

This day, we start with the trekking back to Pangboche and crossing the Dudh Koshi River to ascend a steep trail. This trail will take us up to the Ama Dablam Base Camp which is situated at a distance of 4600 m above the seas level. This day will also be targeted for acclimatization and we rest adequately in the Base Camp for the upcoming trek.

Day 10:

Acclimatization in Ama Dablam Base Camp

Today, we will be given some training on the techniques of climbing the peak in the most proper way possible without any problems. We will be taught the methods to make use of the climbing boots, crampons, ascender, ice axe as well as harness. Ropes training will also be given and the rest of the day will be spent acclimatizing with the weather and the climate. 

Day 11:

- Day 24: Ascent and Descent of Ama Dablam (4600m- 6812m – 4600m)

These days will be spent in ascending the extremely beautiful and the interesting Ama Dablam peak. Camp 1 will be set at the distance of 5700m in the standard route. After some acclimatization there, we return back to the base camp and prepare for actually scaling the summit. We ascent up the challenging route from Base Camp to Camp 1 and we follow the existing lines and establish new ropes wherever necessary to complete the expedition and the path upwards as less technical. After the summit up to the summit and the pride to reach the top, we return back to the base camp. The itinerary varies according to the personal experience and the number of days might vary according.

Day 25-27:

Ama Dablam Base Camp- Lukla

After the extremely tiring yet adventurous expedition, we retrace the path back to Lukla. The path will pass through Tengboche, Namche Bazaar and Phadking and ends in Lukla.

Day 28:

Lukla- Kathmandu (1300m)

After a long journey up to the Ama Dablam Mountain, we take a morning flight to Kathmandu. Upon completing the scenic flight back to Kathmandu, we spend the rest of the day shopping and moving around to gather souvenir from this beautiful country.

Day 29:

Around Kathmandu

The remaining places left to be visited around Kathmandu, can be visited leisurely on this day. We can spend the day enjoying the delights of this beautiful city. 

Day 30:


Today, our expedition comes to an end. With the extremely beautiful moments captured in your cameras and in our mind, you can return back to our home country, only in an attempt to come back for more.
