DHAULAGIRI CIRCUIT TREK
Dhaulagiri is the 7th highest peak in the world at 8176m above the sea level which is located in the western Nepal. The world "Dhaulagiri" means White Mountain. Trekking in the Dhaulagiri is considered to be one of the most challenging and toughest treks all over the world. The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is comparatively difficult but less crowded than other trekking spots. The sceneries during the trek will take your breath away because the scenarios are just beyond the imagination. The route is full of adventure where we can observe magnificent mountain ranges. Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is also said to be an exploration of the wild in nature. Trekking to this area will give you a thrilling experience. This trek is totally a remote area where we can experience the ancient lifestyle. During this trek, you will sense the adventure and surprising geography.

ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU (1300m)
The first day of the journey begins by arriving in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. After arriving at TIA, we will be warmly welcomed by a representative of the airport. After checking in at the airport, we will be transferred to the hotel. We will be welcomed in our hotel with garlands. We will spend the whole day in the hotel to ease the discomfort and to relief tiredness. We can spend the day by strolling around the streets of Kathmandu, enjoying the Nepali cuisine and dinner at traditional Nepali restaurant. Overnight at Kathmandu.
SIGHTSEEING AROUND THE KATHMANDU AND PREPARATION (1300m)
After having the breakfast in the hotel, we start our journey by visiting the heritage site. The sacred temple for the Hindu Pashupatinath, famous stupa of Buddhist (Swayambhunath), historic Durbar Squares like Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath can be visited. In the evening we will take trekking preparation class which will be beneficial for us during the trek. After lunch, we will check all our equipment necessary for our trek. We will introduce the new fellows and make a group discuss our trip at the hotel. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.
KATHMANDU – POKHARA – BENI (1300 m - 823 m- 850m)
Early in the morning after having light breakfast, we will heading towards the domestic terminal of TIA and will fly to Pokhara. During our fly, we will be able to observe beautiful and unique landscape with greenery scenarios. We will reach Pokhara at around 35 to 45 minutes after flying. As soon as we reach Pokhara, we will head towards the bus station and catch the bus that will take us to Beni.
BENI – DHARAPANI (850m – 1470m)
This is the first official day to start our trek. Early in the morning, we will start our journey. We will trek through several villages along the MyagdiKhola. We will stop in Darbang for having our lunch. After having lunch, we will cross a suspension bridge and will start to climb to Dharapani. After traveling for around few hours, the path will take us to Dharapani.
DHARAPANI – MURI (1470m – 1850m)
Early in the morning after having breakfast, we will continue our journey through Takum and Sibang villages. During our trek, we will able to see an outstanding beauty of Nepal and can observe GurjaHimal and PuthaHiunchuli which is located in the west. We will cross DharaKhola which will lead us to Muri.
MURI – BOGHARA (1850m – 2080m)
After staying a night in Muri, early in the morning, we will trek to lower region and also cross the bridge of MuriKhola. Continuous trek through the dense bamboo forest will take us to the village. We will set up our camp on the school grounds in the village.
BOGHARA – DOBANG (2080m- 2350m)
Myagdi valley receives rainfall during the afternoon. So, we need to start early in the morning. We will trek through the tropical forest up to reach Sallighari camp. The path is always slippery so everyone needs to be careful there. After trekking through the west bank of MyagadiKhola, we will reach Lipshe where we stop for lunch. Then few hours to walking will take us to Dobang.
DOBANG – SALLAGHARI (2350m- 3010m)
We will pass through the dense forest of bamboo and rhododendron. We will walk along the east bank of the MyagdiKhola. After few hours of trekking, we will reach Sallaghari where we will camp and stay overnight.
SALLAGHARI – ITALIAN BASE CAMP (3010m- 3660m)
After a night at Sallaghari, we will walk through the rhododendron and bamboo forest. The path is all through the forest. After passing through the forest, we will climb to the grassy area where Italian Base Camp is situated. We can also climb a bit high where can see west face of Dhaulagiri.
ACCLIMATIZATION AT ITALIAN BASE CAMP
After 10 very long tiring days, we will take a rest day. This day is generally separated for relaxing and for checking the necessary equipment needed for trekking. A rest day is separated to protect against the mental and physical conditions with altitude sickness. In this day we can trek near the areas of Italian Base Camp and can explore the nearby areas.
ITALIAN BASE CAMP – GLACIER CAMP (3660m – 4200m)
After a rest day, our new day begins with hot breakfast. The trekking distance for today is short so as to protect from altitude sickness and other health conditions. We will come down to the glacier from Italian Base Camp. Then, we will cross the glacier with the help of ropes and moraine fixed there. This will lead us to the top of the Chonbarden glacier and further trek will lead us to Glacier Camp. Finally, after 5 hours long trek will take us to Glacier Camp.
REST DAY AT GLACIER CAMP (4200m)
The trek to Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp is comparatively difficult in techniques so another rest day is separated. In this day, we will be restoring energy as much as possible for tomorrow as we will be heading to Base Camp. In this day, we will check all our necessary equipment and will check our health conditions too.
GLACIER CAMP – DHAULAGIRI BASE CAMP (4200m – 4740m)
After an acclimatization day, early in the morning after having very hot breakfast, we will follow a rough path that is covered by the glacier. After walking around 4 hours on this path will lead us towards Dhaulagiri Base Camp. From the Base Camp, we will be able to see the spectacular view of Dhaulagiri I, Tukuche Peak and Little Eiger. We will also be able to observe climbing route through the snowfall.
REST DAY AT DHAULAGIRI BASE CAMP
We will be staying at Dhaulagiri Base Camp for two days. We will again take a leave day to learn about the method to use an ice axe and crampons. In this particular day, we will be relaxing and enjoying the views from Base Camp. We will also be practicing the basic mountaineering skills that will be required while crossing to Jomsom.
DHAULAGIRI BASE CAMP – HIDDEN VALLEY (4740m – 5050m) VIA FRENCH COL (5360m)
After exploring areas around the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we will continue our journey to Hidden Valley. We will walk along the moraine strip and cross Upper Chonbarden glacier. Then, we climb soaring moraine path and reach lateral moraine ridge. After reaching lateral moraine ridge, we will see the breathtaking view of Dhaulagiri I and Tukuche Peak. This will be the lifetime memory for all of us. Leaving the moraine ridge behind, we will walk to French pass. After walking down from the pass, we will enter to Hidden valley. 7 to 8 hours of the continuous walk will take us to Hidden Valley. As we drive down to the camp, we will be close to Dhampus Peak.
HIDDEN VALLEY – DHAMPUS PASS – YAK KHARKA (5050m – 5240m- 3680m)
This is the toughest day on this whole journey. In the start of the day, we will climb up a moderate slope to cross the Dhampus pass. We can also enjoy the Dhampus peak view and Tukuche peak. Then, we take a path that goes down the lower region which will take us to Kali Gandaki valley. We will come across the long path and walk down to Yak Kharka.
YAK KHARKA – JOMSOM (3680m – 2670 m)
After one night stand at Yak Kharka, we will climb down to reach the Marpha's village located in Kali Gandaki Valley. We will climb down for a long time for about 4 to 5 hours. During the path, we can visit the Buddhist monastery, apple orchards and much more. After reaching Jomsom, we will stay at the lodge located near the airport.
JOMSOM – POKHARA
We will have our last breakfast in Jomsom. For few hours before our flight, we will roam around the Jomsom area and explore the near areas. We will reach Pokhara after 20 minutes flying from Jomsom. Then, we will spend our remaining part of the day in the beautiful city Pokhara. We will book a hotel to take rest and ease our discomfort caused by the long journey.
On the 3rd day, we were not able to observe Pokhara properly. So this day is separated for visiting Pokhara and the beautiful places here. We will start our journey first visiting Begnas Tal. After Begnas Tal we will visit and enjoy at David’s fall and Gupteswor cave there. In the evening we will return to the lakeside and have a couple of drinks. We will stay in the traditional hotel where Nepali LokDohori is available.
POKHARA – KATHMANDU
We will have our last breakfast in the Pokhara and walk towards the bus station where we will catch a bus that will carry us to Kathmandu. This is just as similar as like traveling to Pokhara from Kathmandu. It will take only around 7 hours to reach Kathmandu. We will also observe the places near during the evening time. We will have a farewell dinner. We all the trek members will chit chat for a short period of time and will possibly make a plan for next visit.
This is the last day of our memorable long trip. We will have our last breakfast in Kathmandu and spent out some remaining time in a qualitative way. Then, with memories in heart and photographs in camera, we will go to TIA and return to own native place.
