Join Nima Adventure’s 41-day expedition in 2024, ascending via the standard route on the Tibetan side. This is an ideal challenge for mountaineers seeking to step into the world of 8,000-meter peaks.

Detailed Cho Oyu Itinerary (Content Blocks)

  • Day Highlight: Visa application and expedition start.
  • Day Details: Arrive in Kathmandu ($1,400) and transfer to your 4-star hotel. Days 2 and 3 are dedicated to Tibet Visa preparation and the official expedition briefing.
  • Accommodation: 6 Nights hotels accommodation in 4-star hotel on B/B basis.
  • Altitude: 1,400m
  • Day Highlight: The long, crucial drive for acclimatization.
  • Day Details: Drive from Kathmandu to the Nepal-Tibet border (Kerung). Cross the border and drive deep into the Tibetan plateau, passing through Thingri (4,300m) where you take a vital acclimatization day. Finally, drive via Rombuk Monastery to the Chinese Basecamp (5,100m)
  • Accommodation: Tea house/hotel/lodge (Full Board).
  • Altitude: Up to 5,100m
  • Day Highlight: Trekking to the expedition launch pad.
  • Day Details: Rest for two days at Chinese Basecamp. Then, trek to Intermediate Camp (5,400m), and finally ascend to the Advanced Basecamp (ABC) (5,700m). ABC will be your home during the climbing rotations.
  • Accommodation: Individual tent in Chinese and Advanced Base Camp.
  • Altitude: 5,700m.
  • Day Highlight: The 21-day window for rotations and summit attempt.
  • Day Details: This period is dedicated to rotation climbs between ABC and the higher camps, preparing your body for the summit push to Cho Oyu 8,188m. Fixed ropes, high-altitude food, and emergency oxygen are prepared.
  • Accommodation: Advanced Base Camp / Sharing tents for the higher camps.
  • Altitude: Up to 188m.

 36–41: Return to Kathmandu & Departure

  • Day Highlight: Rapid return drive to Nepal.
  • Day Details: Trek down to Chinese Basecamp, followed by the three-day drive back to Kathmandu via the Kerung border. Enjoy a leisure day in Kathmandu before transferring to the airport for final departure.
  • Accommodation: Hotel.
  • Meal: Full Board during travel/trekking.

4. Cost INCLUDES: Comprehensive Full Support (USD 34,000/-)

This cost covers the complex logistics of climbing in Tibet, ensuring you meet all mandatory requirements.

  1. Permits & Visa: Expedition Royalty and permit fee of the Chinese Government (CMA / TMA). Restricted area permit and fee. Tibet Visa fee.
  2. Guiding & Safety: An experienced government licensed high altitude climbing Sherpa during the entire climb. All wages, equipment, medical and accidental insurances for all involved staff. First Aid medical kits for the group and the staffs.
  3. Oxygen: 3 Bottles (12L) of Oxygen provided each member, and 1 bottle for the climbing sherpa. 1 Set of Summit Oxygen masks & regulator for each member and high-altitude Sherpa.
  4. Accommodation & Food: 6 Nights hotel accommodation in 4-star hotel in Kathmandu on B/B basis. Individual tent available in the Chinese and Advance Base Camp. 3 meals a day (Breakfasts, Lunch and Dinners with tea/ coffee) in available tea house/hotel/lodge during the trekking and base camp.
  5. Logistics & Equipment: Land transportation for members and staffs. Per person 60kg baggage allowance during trekking-up carrying by yaks. Common climbing equipment (fixed and main rope, ice bars, snow bar etc). Heater will be provided at base camp for heating the dining room.

5. Cost EXCLUDES: Member’s Mandatory Responsibility

All clients must secure the following mandatory items, especially insurance:

  1. Mandatory Insurance: Insurance covering both medical and high-altitude evacuation costs (including high-altitude rescue & air evacuation, medical treatment, etc.) is mandatory.
  2. Tips & Bonus: Summit bonus for climbing Sherpa (minimum US$1500 per climbing Sherpa guide). Tips for base camp and high camp staff’s (minimum US$400 per person).
  3. Travel Fees: International airfare to and from Kathmandu. Nepal entry visa fee (Multiple entry).
  4. Personal Expenses: Lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu. Expenses of personal nature such as soft drinks, battery charge, laundry, internet, alcoholic beverages, etc.. Any packed food/snacks during the trekking.
  5. Contingency & Gear: Expenses of extra nights’ accommodation in Kathmandu. Rescue, Repatriation, Medicines, Medical Tests and Hospitalization expenses. Personal climbing gears, clothing, personal medical kit, and camera/video fees.
  6. Communication Fees: Expenses incurred towards usage of satellite phone and Internet. Satellite phone is available for emergency use at an appropriate charge.
